Getting started

Getting started with LeMoove: create your account and grant the right permissions

Your first five minutes on LeMoove: download the app, sign in and grant the permissions that make alerts work with the app closed.

This guide takes you from download to your first map. It takes about five minutes, and the most important part is permissions: they decide whether alerts work with the app closed.

Before you start

  • An iPhone on iOS 15.6 or later, or an Android phone on Android 7.1 or later.
  • An internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
  • A Google account, an Apple account or an email address.

1. Download the app

Open the download page on your phone and tap the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). The download is free.

2. Sign in

On the Sign in to your account screen, choose one option:

  • Sign in with Google;
  • Sign in with Apple;
  • or email and password.

By signing in, you agree to the terms of use and the privacy policy.

3. Grant the permissions

Right after signing in, the app shows the Permissions screen and the Get Permissions button. Accept each one when the system asks:

Location “Always” (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android)

This is the most important permission. With it, your group sees where you are and arrival and departure alerts work even with the app closed. If you choose “While using the app”, the app only gets your position with the screen open.

  • iPhone: the system first asks “Allow While Using App”. LeMoove then asks you to switch to Always. Also keep Precise Location on.
  • Android: choose Allow all the time on the system’s location screen.

Motion and fitness

This lets the app know whether you’re still, walking or in a vehicle. It’s what allows LeMoove to update less often when you’re not moving, saving battery.

Notifications

Without them, arrival alerts, other alerts and SOS won’t reach you.

Android: no battery restriction

On many Android phones, the system suspends background apps. If the app asks, let it run without battery optimization.

4. Get to know the main screen

After permissions, you land on the map. It shows:

  • the people in your group (at first, just you);
  • the panel with the selected group and the option to switch groups;
  • the saved places and alert history buttons;
  • the SOS button.

5. Next step: your group

The map is more useful with people on it. Continue with How to create a group and invite your family or, if someone sent you a code, How to join a group with an invite code.

If something doesn’t work

  • “Location permission disabled”: open your phone’s settings, find LeMoove and allow location.
  • “Background location permission disabled”: location is only allowed “while using”. Change it to “Always” or “Allow all the time”.
  • Alerts don’t arrive: check that LeMoove notifications are on in your phone’s settings.
  • An account already exists for this email: sign in with the same method you used the first time (Google, Apple or email).
