Privacy and security

Your location, with you in control

Location is sensitive. Here it is, no fine print: who can see what, what the app asks your phone for, how long we keep each thing, and how to leave whenever you want.

The principles behind the app

Consent only

To show up on the map, a person installs LeMoove on their own phone, joins the group with an invite code and allows location. You can't locate anyone by phone number.

Only your group sees you

The server only hands your location to people who share a group with you. The rule is enforced on the server, not just in the app.

You decide

You choose which groups to join, can leave any time, and can remove location permission in your phone's settings.

Less data, for less time

Location history is deleted automatically after 30 days.

Who sees what

Every piece of data has its own circle. None of it is public.

  • Your location and history

You and the people who share at least one group with you. Anyone who leaves the group stops seeing it.

  • Places you create

Only you see and edit the places you created (Home, School…). The people you pick get the alerts but can't change the place.

  • Chats

Only the people in the conversation. In a group chat, the group's members.

  • Alerts

Only whoever turned an alert on receives it and sees its history.

  • Trackers and tags

Whoever added the device, and the people they choose to share it with.

  • Groups

Joining a group requires the invite code, checked by the server. Only the group's creator can delete it.

What the app asks your phone for, and why

iPhone and Android show every request, and you can change your answer any time in settings.

  • Location, including in the background

So your group can see where you are and arrival and departure alerts work with the app closed.

  • Motion and fitness activity

To tell whether you're still, walking or driving. That's what lets the app update less when you're still and save battery.

  • Notifications

So alerts, place notifications, SOS and messages reach you.

  • No battery restriction (Android)

Some phones pause background apps. Exempting LeMoove prevents gaps in your history.

  • Camera, microphone and photos

Only when you send a photo or voice note in the chat, or make a call.

  • Bluetooth

To pair and find Bluetooth tags.

How long we keep data

These periods are applied automatically by the server, every day.

Location points (the map trail)
30 days
Positions sent by trackers
30 days
Alert history
90 days
Stays (where you were and for how long)
1 year
Subscription purchase records
1 year

What the app shows also depends on your plan: trip history is shown for 1, 7 or 30 days. Stays are kept longer because they let the app recognize the places you visit often.

Your account and connections

  • Secure sign-in

Sign in with email and password, your Google account or Apple. Passwords are stored as a hash, never as plain text.

  • Protected connection

The app only talks to LeMoove's servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS and WSS).

  • Encrypted calls

Voice and video calls use WebRTC, a standard that encrypts audio and video in transit.

  • Payments through the store

Subscriptions are paid on the App Store or Google Play. LeMoove never receives your card details.

How to delete your account

  1. Open your profile

In the app, open the profile menu and tap Delete my account.

  2. Read and confirm

The app shows what happens to your data, asks you to tick the confirmations and type the word DELETE.

  3. If you sign in with Apple

The app may ask you to confirm with the same Apple ID. This also removes LeMoove from the apps using your Apple ID.

  4. Your data is deleted

Your account and the data tied to it are deleted right away: profile, photo, locations, history, places, alerts and conversations. We only keep purchase records, for as long as the law requires.

  5. Cancel the subscription in the store

Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play settings.

Questions, requests and emergencies

For requests about your data, email app.lemoove@gmail.com. And remember: LeMoove does not replace emergency services. If you're in danger, call your local emergency number.

Questions about privacy

Can someone follow me without my knowledge?

Not through LeMoove. The app has to be installed on your phone, you have to join a group with the invite code and allow location. iPhone and Android also show when an app uses location. Our terms of use forbid following anyone without their knowledge.

Does someone who leaves the group still see where I am?

No. Your location is only delivered to people who share a group with you at that moment.

Can I use the app without sharing my location all the time?

You can change the permission to “while using the app” in your phone's settings. The system then only lets LeMoove read your position while the app is open, so history and arrival and departure alerts will have gaps while it's closed.

Does LeMoove show ads?

No. The app has no ads and no advertising tools. Location data is used to run the app, as described in the privacy policy.
